Artist Research (Graphic Novels & Comic books)

Research for my Graphic Novel / Comic

I have chosen each of these graphic novels and comics because of their style and each of them have a different way of presenting ideas and the thoughts of the illustrator. They are all pretty much unique and i've chosen some horror/ creepy style of comic and graphic novels that are black and white, this reflects my choices of illustration (black and white with charcoal/Oil pastels/ Water colour and/ or pencil and rubber).

My project
For my project, I decided to use a mainly black and white colour scheme with hints of colour. I practiced a variety of media to use for my project for instance: Ink, Pencil & Rubber, water colour paints, Acrylic paints, Oil pastels, chalk and pen. All of these designs were on different frames to get a grasp of the detail and complexity of each media style. In the end i focused my style of graphic novel/comic around pencil & rubber. The reason i decided to choose this is simple, I can produce many detailed scenes whilst keeping it basic as well. The choice in general was quite hard, water colour could be used well for my graphic novel, but i decided against this because it was more time consuming to add detail to each frame.

I also sketched 2 A3 templates for each of my frames, i then used both of these to inspire a much larger and better A2 comic book template because that is the scale i am working too. The A2 Layout looked alot better and used elements of each of the previous 2 layouts, for example i took the title font from my second design and the frame layout from the first design. This made it look much nicer than the previous 2 and worked really well, i also removed the background design as this didn't really fit with the final layout design. My final scenes are being made using pencil are rubber.

Television through the years

The first moving images were devised in 1926 that were later projected onto very small screens, althouh

1950's Television household set, Quite small and they were quite rare compared to modern day standards.

1970's Television household set more common than it's predecessor, and the screen size practically doubled since the 1940's.

1990's Television (Now used in more than 1 room around the house.) In the 1990's a larger screen and more buttons to control the television. The Television is also much more common now.
2010 Television (Now used in more than 1 room around the house.) Since the last television, the modern day 2010 television is a lot more common than the last, also some homes have more than 1 where as this was quite rare in 1990.

The present day (2014) house hold television which has evolved alot since the primary TV, now producing 3D imagery and a much wider resolution and larger - yet thinner size. 2014 screens are now clearer and have more colour depth than ever.
